This picture was taken over the summer in 2018. I was at my friends house and we were making smores but truthfully, I am not the biggest fan of smores so I just decided to poke around the fire with one of the sticks. When the stick started to burn I noticed how interesting the flames looked as they worked their way down the stick. Not even trying to take a photo for my portfolio, I whipped out my phone and took a quick picture. Later that night, when I was looking through all my photos, I noticed how focused and clear the image came out so I decided to put a little edit on it and share it on social media. I was very surprised when looking back at this picture. Not only did the flames come out super clear, but the background ended up being pitch black which was completely by accident. I was surrounded by a bunch of friends and phone lights so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the only thing in the image was the stick burning and the fire in the background. It is now one of my favorite photos I have taken and a great example of how something can turn out not as all how you expected but for the better.
