This piece was created my junior year of high school in my Ceramics and Sculpture class. The project was to create a unique scene by cutting into a block of balsa foam and then paint it. I saw a drawing made of a ship sailing through the sky to Neverland and the world of Peter Pan and decided to base it off that. This was one of the first projects I made in class that dealt with 3-D designs and carvings so I found it very fun. I believe 3-D projects is where I can do my best work so it was really fun to play around with this and make something I really enjoyed. The biggest challenge was painting the sculpture because it was very uneven and I had to create multiple ombre looks to create shadows and depth which was difficult but I think it ended up being successful and came out as a good piece of work.
